The Georgia Institute of Technology is seeking a Faculty Director for its 3D Systems Packaging Research Center (PRC). As one of the leading research centers in the area of Electronics Systems Packaging, Georgia Tech’s 3D Systems PRC encompasses a highly interdisciplinary team of faculty and students spanning fundamental research in electrical, mechanical and thermal design, advanced materials and processes, and integration of these basic research efforts into design and demonstration of advanced system prototypes for applications in computing, consumer, wireless communications, high-power and high-temperature electronics, and sensing electronics. PRC’s research is supported by an industry consortium of more than 40 companies from the US, Europe and Asia. PRC maintains one of a kind research labs and tools, including a 300mm panel pilot facility for demonstrating electronic system technologies. As a research center within Georgia Tech’s Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology, the PRC research programs also benefit from state of the art cleanrooms with advanced lithography, plating, planarization and assembly tools and characterization facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong interdisciplinary engineering background with a record of scholarly accomplishments and intellectual leadership suitable for appointment as a tenured full professor in a leading research university, expertise in interdisciplinary strategic research and its commercialization, as well as experience with management of large and complex research programs. Candidates with both academic and industry experiences in the development and management of multi-faculty interdisciplinary research programs with significant industry collaboration will be particularly suited for this position. The PRC Director is expected to develop a forward looking vision in both homogeneous and heterogeneous system integration for applications ranging from computing, consumer, wireless communications, self-driving electric cars, the Internet of Things, and wearable electronics.

The PRC Director is expected to hold a joint faculty appointment in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Qualified external candidates will be considered for an Endowed Chair and Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar position.
